Eviction Protection Information

Since the CDC eviction moratorium extension only covers counties when they are in a substantial (or higher) rate of transmission, the link below is a great resource to see if the moratorium is still in effect or not in Chester County.  The site also has a tool to complete a declaration to trigger the moratorium rights.

https://www.covid19evictionforms.com/protection-check

Your county’s CDC Declaration will protect you for 14 days from your county’s last substantial or high rate of COVID-19 transmission. You will continue to be protected if your county’s transmission rate stays substantial or high. If your county’s rate is not substantial or high for at least one day out of 14 consecutive days, you will no longer be protected and may be at risk of getting evicted.

We recommend you check back regularly to make sure you continue to be protected. It’s updated daily with COVID-19 rates.

If you are facing eviction and need assistance contact Legal Aid of Southeastern PA via the free Telephone Helpline: 877-429-5994 (Monday-Friday 9am-1pm) or visit www.lasp.org to apply for legal assistance online.

If you have been financially impacted by Covid-19 and need assistance paying rent or utilities call 211 or visit www.211.org

Monthly Child Tax Credit Payments Begin July 15

Beginning July 15, most families with children will begin receiving monthly installments of the Child Tax Credit. Families will receive $250 per month for each child age 6 through 17 and $300 per month for children younger than 6.

For more information visit childtaxcredit.gov.

There’s also a fun video prepared by the Economic Security Project and Groundwork Collaborative that educates families about the Child Tax Credit in a lighthearted way.

Roughly 39 million households – covering 88 percent of U.S. children – will automatically receive Child Tax Credit payments monthly. The money will help families with children afford basic necessities such as housing, food, clothing, health care and child care.

Experts tell us we can cut child poverty nearly in half due to the Child Tax Credit – but only if people know about it. Households with 12 percent of the nation’s children won’t automatically receive the payments. These include non-filers who don’t have a tax filing requirement or chose not to file a tax return. Many of these households are likely home to families of color.
