Updated Locations/Hours for Volunteer Income Tax Assistance
Due to the IRS changing the deadline from April 15th to May 17th, the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program has also changed its hours and locations. See the flyer below.

Emergency Rent and Utility Assistance Available for Chester County Residents
Chester County has received $34.5 million from the U.S. Department of Treasury and the PA Department of Human Services to help cover emergency rental and utility bills for individuals and families who have been severely impacted by COVID-19.
The rent and utility grants are available to individuals and families in Chester County who are obligated to pay rent and who:
- Qualify for unemployment or have experienced a reduction in household income, incurred significant costs, or experienced a financial hardship due to COVID-19;
- Demonstrate a risk of experiencing homelessness or housing instability;
- Have a household income at or below 80% of the Area Median Income (AMI)
Those who are eligible can use the emergency rent and utility funding to pay for outstanding rent, electricity, gas, water and sewer; and energy costs such as fuel oil or propane, over a 15-month period.
To apply for funding, residents need to call 211 and request rent and utility assistance.

Free Online Naturalization Preparation Classes
Philadelphia’s Museum of the American Revolution will be offering free online civics and history classes during the month of May to help immigrants prepare for the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services naturalization exam. See the info in the flyer below:

Free, One-on-One Technology Training for Seniors
RSVP has created a free educational program, Senior Technology Training to help seniors (ages 55+) understand and use technology. Trained volunteer tutors will virtually teach seniors to use devices (computer, tablet or cell phone) and help them connect with the latest technology such as Zoom, FaceTime and social media. The pace of the one-on-one instruction is based on the comfort level of the senior.

Phoenixville Code Blue Shelter Announces Closing Date
Please be advised that the Code Blue Center will close its doors for the season at 8am on Wednesday, April 7, 2021.
We are working with all existing guests to place them in other shelters or housing before our closing date.
Thank you for everyone’s support over the course of our season. We could not operate the center without your support.
If you encounter anyone in need of shelter, please contact 2-1-1 or visit 211sepa.org.
As a reminder, the Code Blue Center is open 7 days a week from 8PM to 8AM (overnight only). We are located underneath the Sacred Heart Church, with our doors facing the parking lot at 35 Hall Street.

Chesco Seeks Comments on Climate Action Plan
The Chester County Planning Commission is soliciting feedback on the county’s proposed Climate Action Plan. A virtual public meeting was held on March 4 to present the plan. To view a draft of the proposed Climate Action Plan, review the slideshow, or watch the live recording of the public meeting, visit https://chescoplanning.org/Environmental/ClimateAction.cfm. Comments about the plan can be submitted online through March 31, 2021, or by emailing ccplanning@chesco.org.
