Phoenixville Candlelight Holiday Tour to Benefit Phoenixville Public Library
The 11th annual Phoenixville Candlelight Holiday Tour will take place Saturday, December 3, from 3:00 to 7:00 PM. The tour features beautifully decorated homes and houses of worship, adaptive re-use, music, and refreshments. $20.00 advance tickets are available at Phoenixville Public Library. Day of tour tickets will be available for $25.00 at the Phoenixville Senior Center, 153 Church St. Tour programs will be available at the Senior Center after 2:30 PM on the day of the tour.
All proceeds benefit Phoenixville Public Library and The Clinic.
Phoenixville Public Library Now Recycling Inkjet Cartridges
Phoenixville Public Library is now collecting empty inkjet printer cartridges for recycling. The Library receives up to $4.00 for each cartridge recycled. Cartridges can be deposited in our collection box near the Adult Library Checkout Desk. Please place your old cartridge in a plastic sandwich bag before depositing it in the collection box. Sorry, laser printer cartridges are not accepted. Questions about the program can be directed to our Business Office at 610-933-3013 x26.
Celebrate “Banned Books” at Phoenixville Public Library
Phoenixville Public Library is celebrating the freedom to read with a special display for Banned Books Week, September 24 – 30. See the display of books that have been banned or challenged around the world, in the display case at the top of the stairs. Pick up a bookmark, an informative handout, and check out a “banned book” today!
Scheduled Internet Outage
The Phoenixville Area School District has announced that there will be a scheduled Internet ouage on Thursday, September 22, between 5:00 PM and 6:00 PM, for upgrades and maintenance that will be performed on the PASD network. During this outage, wired and wireless Internet access will not be available in the library, and the library catalog and circulation system will not be available. Customers may still check out materials during this time, however, but must present a valid library card. We apologize for any inconvenience this Internet outage may cause.

Adult Summer Reading Program a Success
The Adult Summer Reading Program, “Novel Destinations”, concluded this week with the awarding of the grand prize gift basket — a delectable selection of snack items from around the world — to Richard Clapper (below right, with Adult Services Director, Mark Pinto). He was among 20 participants in the Program who read at least 15 books that were set in or about a foreign country. The Library would like to thank all 118 customers, who ranged in age from 18 to 88, who participated in the Program.

Looking for that good beach read? Why not head down to Friends Books, our gently used book store located behind our Children’s Library? In addition to books, the store carries music CDs and DVDs, too – all at reasonable prices. All proceeds benefit Phoenixville Public Library. Wireless Service Unavailable July 18-19
