Delayed Reopening for Children’s Library

The Library’s renovation is progressing and it is set to reopen its doors to the Adult Library on Tuesday, September 4. However, the reopening of the Children’s Library will take place on Monday September 24.

Over the last week it became clear that existing floor downstairs had deteriorated to an extent that requires removal of the existing tiles. This was not in the original scope of the project but is being addressed. The Children’s Library will open on September 24 to allot time to perform all of the requisite work necessary.

“All in all, the project has run very smoothly; we do not want to put carpet on a floor that is in disrepair,” said Susan Mostek, Interim Director.

Mostek also stated that she is excited for the public to see the progress that has occurred during the temporary closure.

“It is a very exciting time for us. We appreciate everyone’s patience and look forward to serving them with a vastly improved facility.”

Library to be Closed August 20 to September 3

The Library will be closed Monday, August 20 through Monday, September 3 during our continuing renovation.  During the closure new carpet will be laid throughout the building, new circulation desks will be installed and the new doubled-in-size computer center will be made ready for the community.  The Library’s non-fiction collection will also return at this time and be made available on September 4th.  One can check Phoenixville Public Library’s Facebook page for updates on the renovation project as well as the Library Foundation’s website, www.pplfoundation.org.  Don’t forget you can access the Library’s Over Drive system as well as its multiple databases from its website, www.phoenixvillelibrary.org.

During this period, the return bins outside the Library will still be available for use.  However, you will not be able to pick up your holds.  Held items arriving at the Library during our closure period will be sent to another library to the next patron on the hold list, and you will need to place your hold again.  To help prevent this situation, starting today we encourage you to select another Chester County library as a pickup location when you place your hold.  For more information, contact the Circulation Manager at 610-933-3013 x22.  We apologize for any inconvenience.  Thank you for your patience during our renovations.  We look forward to serving you even better when we reopen.
