Summer 2023 Reading Challenge
For Early and Independent Readers
Join us for our summer reading challenge to read for fun and exploration!
When:
Reading challenges begin June 10 & end August 19. Join any time during that period.
How to join:
Visit the library to register & pick up your folder of reading challenge materials.
School-aged Independent Readers, Ages 5/6 – 12 years
The Goal
Read for 20 minutes per day/up to a total of 100 minutes or more each week. You can read physical books, e-books and/or listen to audio books or e-audio books. Read fiction, nonfiction, or graphic novels.
- Record your 100 minutes of weekly reading on the chart in your folder. Bring your chart to the library when visiting, and we will verify your reading as you complete each week’s level.
- For each 100-minute level completed, you will receive a raffle ticket toward prizes.
- Earn an extra raffle ticket for every 1 title you log on the title log.
- Earn an extra raffle ticket for every activity you complete on the PASD Bingo Board in the folder. (This is a copy of the the Phoenixville Area School District bingo board. If you are a student there, you will probably need a copy to submit to the District.)
Early Literacy, Birth through Age 5/6 years
The Goal
Read for 10 minutes per day/up to a total of 50 minutes or more each week. You can read physical books, e-books, and/or listen to audio books or e-audio books. Read fiction or nonfiction books.
- Record your 50 minutes of weekly reading on the chart in your folder. Bring your chart to the library when visiting, and we will verify your reading as you complete each week’s level.
- For each 50-minute level completed, you will receive a raffle ticket toward prizes.
- Earn an extra raffle ticket for every 5 titles you log on the title log.
- Earn an extra raffle ticket for every activity completed on the Activities Sheet in your folder.
Extra Information:
Please have all raffle tickets submitted by Friday, August 25, 2023, 4:30 PM. Raffle drawings will occur the following week.
Read any format or genre of books: physical books, ebooks, audio books, e-audio, fiction, non-fiction, or graphic nvoels.
Books don’t have to be from the library (but we would love if they were!). Read books from home. Count reading assignments. Count story time. Read, read, read!
The library now has a book locker on the front porch where you can pick your books up 24/7. Choose that method when you place your hold.
You also have access to our online catalog of e-books & e-audio books, and reading them will count toward the program. Find those resources at https://ccls.org/305/eMaterials.
