Digital Conversion Lab

Have LPs, cassettes, VHS tapes, film negatives or slides gathering dust because you no longer have the equipment to play or view them?  Update your collections and make them usable again by converting them to digital formats on the Digital Conversion Lab equipment in our Computer Center.

VHS to DVD Recorder & Elgato Video Capture

Dub VHS and VHS-C tapes to DVD-RAM, DVD-R, DVD-RW or DVD+R discs, or use Elgato Video Capture software to convert VHS video to digital (MP4) files.  Recorder does not work with DVD+RW discs.  DVD-R discs are available for purchase from the Circulation Desk, 50 cents/disc.  Note: Dubbing is done in real time.  In addition, at least 15 minutes is required at the end of dubbing to DVD disc to finalize the disc.  Make sure you have allowed enough time for the complete process to finish.

Film-to-Digital Converter

Convert slides and 35mm film negatives to TIFF, PSD, JPEG, JP2 or PDF file formats.

Digital Conversion Turntable

Convert records (33 1/3s, 45s & 78s) to MP3 files for transferring to an MP3 player or iTunes, or to WAV files for burning to a CD.  CD burning software also available.  CD-R discs are available for purchase from the Circulation Desk, 50 cents/disc.

Cassette Tape to MP3 Converter

Convert cassette tapes to MP3 files.  Automatically saves files to a flash drive.

Note: LP and cassette conversion is done in real time.
